Hello, I’m Nadia! I’m Cedar in C&S. I’m a Lebanese visual artist and poet. I lived in Lebanon until 2006 and since then have had 16 different addresses in many different states and countries, and over the last few years art and creativity have become the constant thing in a life with a lot of change in it. I take a lot of inspiration in my heritage as an Arab, the hell scape of politics, and the beauty and respite of the natural world. A question I often ask myself with my art, is there is a way to make something beautiful out of feelings that can be very ugly? Is there a way to convey an intangible heaviness with a single image that can cut through the fog and explain itself better than words can? I’m not sure! Its a question I toy with as a thesis to a lot of my more conceptual work.
I also vehemently think art should be fun, so I share my landscapes and sketchbook experiments too. Recently I’ve started dabbling in some film photography, which has also been a fun exercise in using a different part of my brain in how I see and remember things.
I hope this can be a space for ever evolving outlets for inspiration and art.
